About Toastmasters
SandtonToastmasters forms part of Toastmasters International which has its headquarters in the United States. Toastmasters International is a non profit organisation which is represented by clubs all over the world.

Toastmasters offers you the opportunity to develop your speaking skills in a friendly and non threatening environment, where fellow Toastmasters assist each other by evaluating speeches and providing constructive feedback.

Various public speaking levels can be obtained, for example

Competent Toastmaster(CTM)
Advanced Toastmaster Bronze(ATMB)
Advanced Toastmaster Silver(ATMS)
Advanced Toastmaster Gold(ATMG)
Distinguished Toastmaster(DTM)

In order to earn these awards certain programs have to be completed. These programs involve delivering speeches or leading workshops in order to meet the specified criteria for the award.

On joining Toastmasters you commence developing your skills by following the Basic Communication and Leadership program comprising 10 speeches. Once the requirements for these speeches have been met you qualify as a Competant Toastmaster.
The mission of Sandton Toastmasters club is to provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which every member has the opportunity to develop communication and leadership skills, which in return foster self-confidence and personal growth.
